With a pool pump running daily and various appliances in use, their energy consumption was substantial. Paul's wife works from home, adding to their energy usage during the day. They needed a solution that would allow them to better manage their energy use while keeping their carbon footprint down.\r\n<h3>The solution: behaviour change that makes a difference<\/h3>\r\nThanks to Flow Home\u2019s Price Efficiency Adjustment (PEA), Paul was given the opportunity to adjust his electricity base rate and achieve a monthly bill reduction.\r\n\r\nBy simply switching their pool pump to run during the day and using other appliances when wholesale electricity prices were lower, they were able to reduce their electricity rate. Paul's wife, working from home, could easily manage this shift, making it a seamless transition.\r\n<h3>The results: electricity rates down, price efficiency up<\/h3>\r\nIn their best month, Paul\u2019s family achieved an impressive PEA of -7.9 c\/kWh, reducing their Flow Home electricity rate to 24.7 c\/kWh. On average, they have managed to reduce their base rate by 6.1 c\/kWh each month, equating to an average monthly reduction of $60!\r\n<h6>\"It\u2019s a fantastic offer for all sorts of positive reasons. It\u2019s not even about saving money. knowing the electricity we're supporting is 100% renewable, even if pricing wasn't comparable, I'd be happy. But to know that we\u2019re making savings is even better.\"<\/h6>\r\n<h3>The key to success: mindful energy use and the Flow Power app<\/h3>\r\nHaving someone at home most of the time has been crucial to their success. Paul's wife works from home two days a week and is much more mindful of when they use appliances that consume more electricity. The Flow Power app has also been a game-changer, providing real-time energy forecasts and alerts.\r\n<h6>\"It\u2019s just great to get a gauge of what\u2019s happening. Occasionally we\u2019ve been alerted to a spike, which was helpful. [The app] is useful. Like a fire hazard spectrum: green, go for it, and red, let\u2019s hold off.\"<\/h6>\r\n<h3>The takeaway: doing the right thing doesn\u2019t have to cost more<\/h3>\r\nThrough firsthand experience, Paul and his family can see how Flow Home is helping households participate in Australia\u2019s transition to renewables \u2013 without it costing the earth.
