Deye solar battery scheduling & setup
This guide explains how to set your Deye hybrid inverter and battery to discharge to the grid between 5:30pm and 9:30pm using Time of Use in the Solarman Smart app, so you make the most of Flow Power’s Happy Hour.
This setup is required if you’re participating in Flow Power’s Battery Happy Hour Electricity Plan.

How to set up your battery
Step 1 –
Find out which inverter you have
You need a Deye hybrid inverter with a compatible battery. Download the Solarman Smart app (iOS or Android) and log in with your owner account. (Many brands are rebadged Deye inverters and also use Solarman.)
Step 2 –
Open the Time of Use settings
In Solarman Smart, open your inverter, then go to Settings and find System Work Mode, or Time of Use. This is where you set when the battery charges and discharges.
Step 3 –
Turn on Time of Use and set the 5:30pm to 9:30pm slot
Enable Time of Use. In the time slots (there are usually six), set one from 17:30 to 21:30, with a low target State of Charge so the battery discharges through the window.
Step 4 –
Set Selling First so the battery exports to the grid
Set the work mode to “Selling First”. This is what lets the battery sell to the grid during the window, rather than only covering your home. Important: Peak Shaving must be turned OFF, otherwise the battery will not export to the grid on the schedule.
Step 5-
(Optional) charge when energy is cheap
If you want to top the battery up from the grid at cheaper times, tick Grid Charge on an earlier off-peak time slot so the battery is full before 5:30pm.
Step 6-
Check your low-battery limit
Make sure your minimum, or low-battery, State of Charge isn’t set so high that the battery stops discharging early. A low limit leaves enough to discharge through the whole window.
Step 7-
Confirm export is enabled and you’re not on a conflicting VPP
Make sure export is enabled and within your network’s export limit (not zero-export). Battery-to-grid export won’t work if you’re signed up to another VPP that controls your battery.
Step 8-
Save and verify
Save your settings. Between 5:30 and 9:30pm, open Solarman Smart – you should see the battery discharging and power exporting to the grid.
Do I control my own exports?
Yes. You keep full control of your solar and battery system at all times.
Flow Power doesn’t remotely control your inverter or battery. Instead, we give you price signals and a clear export window, and you decide how to respond.
If you have a battery or smart inverter, you (or your installer) can set it up so you charge when energy is cheaper and export more during Happy Hour, but all those settings remain in your hands.
