A simple way to get more value from your battery
Store excess solar during the day and shift your energy use to lower price periods.
Use your stored battery energy to power your home when electricity prices are higher.
Export any remaining battery energy during Happy Hour to earn a higher feed-in tariff.
Our plan is not a VPP (Virtual Power Plant), which means that you will be the one calling the shots, and will be in full control of your battery system.
We simply provide the export window; you will need to schedule the exports in your battery app.
Here are some guides on how you can do that.
Once you’ve gathered a credit you can request a refund easily on the Flow Power app. Any unused credit will roll over to the next month in your billing cycle.

Earn a higher feed-in tariff* when you export your battery during Happy Hour.
*The premium rate applies to your first 15kWh of exports during the Happy Hour window, with additional exports paid at a lower rate.
Battery Happy Hour is not a VPP. You decide when your battery charges and exports.
Track your energy, monitor live electricity prices and use the traffic light system to help shift your usage and lower your electricity costs.
Get a smart meter upgrade at no additional cost (in NSW, South East QLD & SA), helping you get the most from your Battery Happy Hour plan.
Your electricity is matched with a local renewable generator, helping support Australia’s renewable energy transition.
No lock-in contracts, no exit fees and no fees to switch.
We use data from your smart meter, which records how much electricity you export to the grid in 5‑minute intervals.
Each export interval is tagged with the exact time it occurred, so we can clearly identify exports that happen during Happy Hour from exports that happen at other times of day.
Your bill then applies the Happy Hour export rate to the energy you exported during that window, and the standard export rate (currently $0c/kWh) to exports outside that window.
Yes. You keep full control of your solar and battery system at all times.
Flow Power doesn’t remotely control your inverter or battery. Instead, we give you price signals and a clear Happy Hour window, and you decide how to respond.
If you have a battery or smart inverter, you (or your installer) can set it up so you charge when energy is cheaper and export more during Happy Hour, but all those settings remain in your hands.
You can manage your exports using your battery or solar app. At this stage you cannot manage exports directly using the Flow Power app. You can only view your energy usage and export patterns via the Flow Power app.
No. Battery Happy Hour is a month‑to‑month electricity plan with no lock‑in contract and no exit fees.
If you decide Battery Happy Hour isn’t right for you, you can switch to another one of our plans or another retailer at any time.
We do run a standard credit check when you sign up, but if you change your mind early on you also have a 10‑day cooling‑off period as required under energy regulations.
Outside the Happy Hour export window, your feed‑in tariff is 0c/kWh.
That’s because during the middle of the day the grid is often flooded with solar and wholesale prices are low, so your exports aren’t worth much to the system.
By contrast, during Happy Hour, you receive a higher export rate of 35c/kWh on the first 15 kWh you export (then 10c/kWh thereafter during the Happy Hour period), because that’s when your energy is more valuable.
Electricity markets and network conditions differ across Australia, which means export rates can vary depending on your location.
For NSW, QLD & SA customers the first 15 kWh you export during Happy Hour earns the boosted feed-in tariff of 35c/kWh. Any additional energy exported during the same Happy Hour period is paid at 10c/kWh.
For Victorian customers the first 15 kWh you export during Happy Hour earns the boosted feed-in tariff of 30c/kWh. Any additional energy exported during the same Happy Hour period is paid at 10c/kWh.
