As EVX Australia expands kerbside charging across Australia, it needs an energy partner that can support growth, keep operating costs in check and stay aligned with its sustainability goals.
Since 2025, Flow Power has supported EVX Australia’s charging network with 100% renewable-backed electricity, allowing EVX to benefit from its load profile, which naturally suits flexible pricing.
The charging network is rapidly growing across New South Wales and Victoria, with a rollout underway in South Australia. Today, EVX Australia has around 250 sites, with plans to scale to 8,000 sites by 2030.
EVX Australia’s charging challenge
EVX Australia’s large-scale public EV charging network is built using 22 kW dual-port pole chargers.
These are controlled through the EVX app, and each charger has its own NMI, giving the business clear, site-level visibility over energy use at each charger.
When considering the right plan for its network, EVX Australia needed a solution that could:
- support a growing multi-site footprint
- use renewable-backed energy to provide a sustainable alternative for EV drivers
- provide pricing flexibility as charging load grows
- create a pathway to optimise charging over time.
Additionally, the plan needed to enable EVX to leverage new network opportunities, including access to pole charging trial tariffs, with Ausgrid, CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy.
Flow Power’s smart energy solution
EVX Australia attended a Flow Power event in 2024 focused on the future of electric transportation, where the synergies were clear from the start. EVX Australia’s sustainability ethos aligned closely with Flow Power’s renewable approach, while flexible pricing gave EVX a smarter way to manage charging costs.
Flow Power currently supplies energy to EVX Australia’s charger network through a Power Renewable contract, supporting sites across NSW and Victoria, with expansion continuing into South Australia. Each year, Flow Power ensures that 100% of EVX’s load is matched with renewable energy fed into the grid via the GreenPower scheme.
Additionally, Flow Power supported EVX Australia’s broader innovation efforts for its ChargeKonnect Kerbside EV Charging Project through ARENA’s Driving the Nation Program.
A natural fit for wholesale electricity
EVX’s charging portfolio load shape was a natural fit for Flow Power’s products, enabling it to capture value from flexible pricing, even before active optimisation. The graph to the left shows the average load for all EVX sites over a 12-month period, compared to wholesale electricity price by the hour.
With access to flexible pricing, EVX Australia has been able to benefit from its natural load shape, taking advantage of the low daytime wholesale prices.
The next step is a three-stage optimisation pathway, designed to progressively respond to real-time energy prices as the portfolio scales, plus plans to provide incentives for customers to charge when power is cheapest and cleanest.

With access to flexible pricing, EVX Australia has been able to benefit from its natural load shape, achieving a negative Price Efficiency Adjustment across its portfolio of chargers.
In the first year, that translated to around $10,000 in savings, with those savings expected to increase as more charging load comes online. Just as importantly, the partnership has created a strong platform for growth.
By pairing renewable supply with flexible pricing, EVX Australia has been able to build a charging network that is ready to scale and better positioned to capture value as the market evolves, while offering a unique value proposition to its sustainability conscious customers.
