Coonalpyn Solar Farm
Project overview
Coonalpyn Solar Farm is Flow Power’s first built, owned and operated energy project, which paved the way to developing our growing portfolio of renewable energy projects.
Powering the City of Adelaide
From 1 July 2020, the City of Adelaide has been completely powered by renewable electricity – a first for any council in South Australia.
Flow Power has secured a contract with the City of Adelaide to meet its electricity needs from both Streaky Bay and Coonalpyn Solar Farms.
“The City of Adelaide is proud to be leading the way when it comes to renewable energy and our continued commitment to using the equivalent of 100 percent renewable electricity to power our operations.”
City of Adelaide, Lord Mayor – Sandy Verschoor
The project generated local employment and economic growth in the Coorong District Council area.
All contractors engaged during construction were based in South Australia, and ongoing contracts for operations and maintenance were awarded to local organisations.
Across our project sites, we work to promote the use of beneficial agrivoltaics. At Coonalypn, the landowner’s sheep graze onsite, helping manage vegetation while the panels provide vital shade for the flock.
Coonalpyn Solar Farm generates clean energy for South Australia’s grid, helping reduce carbon emissions and support the integration of renewables.
