Streaky Bay Solar Farm - Flow Power

Streaky Bay Solar Farm

Project overview

Located on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, this 3.4 MW farm provides 6,540 MWh of clean energy annually to the National Electricity Market, including anchor customer, the City of Adelaide.

Location: Streaky Bay, SA
3.4 MW capacity
7,000 tonnes of carbon saved each year
1,300 homes powered (equivalent)

Project details

In 2020, Flow Power acquired the project from renewable energy developer Tetris Energy who undertook the initial planning and development of the land.

From design to shovel ready status, procurement and logistics, construction management and ongoing operations, Flow Power’s in house Projects team delivered what is now Streaky Bay Solar Farm.

The project includes a single axis tracking system, a 3 MVA centralised inverter station and 11kV switchgear.

Supporting South Australia

Streaky Bay Solar Farm is the most western generator in the National Electricity Market, generating local employment, economic growth and boosting the available generation in the community.

Thanks to the project, more South Australian businesses have the opportunity to access low-cost energy linked to solar generation for up to ten years through a Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).

Powering the City of Adelaide

Flow Power is supporting the City of Adelaide on its journey to carbon neutrality.

Since July 2020, the City of Adelaide has been completely powered by renewable electricity, a first for any council in South Australia. It’s also the first organisation to source its PPA solar power from Streaky Bay Solar Farm.

Through the PPA, the Council powers all Council event infrastructure, electric vehicle chargers, barbecues in park lands, water pumps, street lighting and traffic lights with renewables.
