The Opportunity

As an Energy Analyst with Flow Power, you will support our Trading & Pricing function with energy market analysis, retail pricing for our various customer groups and retail products, monitoring and managing our hedge position and risk exposure, and the ongoing development of our analytics & modelling capability.

Key responsibilities
  • Coordinate large C&I pricing inputs and develop & maintain large C&I energy management inputs across various retail products.
  • Manage custom large C&I product pricing proposals for customers and prospects.
  • Support development of new retail products and provide analytics support to our emerging small customer (Residential and SME) portfolio.
  • Support live retail deal tracking to ensure offers remain profitable, and coordinate with internal stakeholders respectively.
  • Support creation and ongoing operation of automated position reporting models.
  • Monitor and interpret energy market conditions, including NEM energy and FCAS spot prices, energy forward markets (ASX and OTC), environmental markets.
  • Develop and leverage AI capability in analytics and workflow applications.
About you

In the earlier years of your career as an Energy Analyst, you’re a confident Individual Contributor with a sound understanding of the energy retail industry and its components. This role will give you an opportunity to work closely with subject matter experts in a medium-sized organisation with a flat hierarchical structure. Working in alignment with our company values, you’ll have the platform to contribute to retail positioning and developing automation opportunities in an environment that embraces emerging technological solutions.

Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary level study in Engineering, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics Energy Systems, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in energy or data analytics are favourable.
  • Knowledge of the National Electricity Market (NEM), retail pricing, PPAs and energy trading fundamentals.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in data analytic tools (Python, R, SQL), visualisation tools (Power BI), and Excel.
  • Experience with forecasting, financial modelling and risk analysis.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and liaison skills, including the ability to discuss complex concepts with non-experts.
