The proposed Dunedoo Energy Project (solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will support local grid stability and deliver financial benefits to the local community.  

Flow Power has acquired the Dunedoo Energy Project, a State Significant Development (SSD) with an approved Development Application, strengthening its pipeline of renewable generation and firming assets in regional NSW.  

The Project, previously owned by ib vogt GmbH, is located approximately 2 kilometres north of Dunedoo in the Warrumbungle Shire. The Project consists of a 55 MW solar farm + 60 MW BESS.  

Flow Power will develop, build, own and operate the Project, with construction scheduled to commence in 2026. Once complete, it will include approximately 175,000 solar panels across 92 hectares, and will generate enough green energy to power up to 20,000 homes and businesses.  

The approved design includes connection to Essential Energy’s Dunedoo Substation via a new 66 kV transmission line, supported by planned substation upgrades.  

The Dunedoo Energy Project is expected to deliver a range of benefits, including:  

  • Next-generation solar + storage technology delivering lower-cost clean energy to help reduce emissions across the grid. The solar panels will charge the BESS during the day and the BESS will discharge to the grid when renewable generation is low, delivering power when needed and supporting the renewable energy transition;   
  • increased renewable supply, supporting more competitive wholesale outcomes over time, by reducing the price influence of fossil fuel generators;   
  • improved reliability, with the BESS able to respond rapidly during peak demand and outages;  
  • regional investment, including a community benefit program to be developed in consultation with the local community and council and rolled out from the commencement of operations.

Flow Power will engage with local residents, landholders, community groups and stakeholders throughout construction and delivery to provide updates and receive feedback. Flow Power will prioritise using local workers, businesses and contractors wherever possible, ensuring the Project delivers meaningful benefits to the Dunedoo community.  

Current statutory approvals for the development, including the Development Consent, Environmental Impact Statement, and any post-approval documentation such as approved plans and staging plans can be found on the NSW Planning Portal.
