3 new energy projects featuring Australian-made steel and anti-hail solar panels will deliver clean energy, support grid stability and provide lasting investment for communities in Monarto, Naracoorte and Coonawarra.

Innovative electricity retailer, Flow Power, has completed construction and commissioning of 3 new solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in South Australia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth across the National Electricity Market (NEM).

The trio of projects, located in Monarto, Naracoorte and Coonawarra, each combines a 6-7 MW solar farm with a 15 MWh BESS, adding to renewable energy supply and supporting grid reliability. The projects are connected to existing 33kV SA Power Networks infrastructure, strengthening South Australia’s energy network.

The projects will add to Flow Power’s portfolio of South Australian renewable energy projects and offtakes, now totaling 85.3 MW of wind, solar and hybrid assets.

The integrated battery systems will enable firmed renewable energy supply with strong economics, helping reduce energy costs for Flow Power customers. Additionally, the BESS will improve local reliability, with the ability to respond rapidly in the event of network instability.

“These new South Australian solar farms demonstrate Flow Power’s ability to innovate and deliver,” said Design Manager, John Maroney.

“From incorporating anti‑hail modules and Australian‑made steel to deploying custom prefabricated HV and inverter kiosks, we’ve embraced smart solutions at every stage. Delivering and commissioning the projects with our own team showcases the capability we’ve built and our long‑term commitment to renewable energy in Australia.”

Flow Power developed and will operate all 3 projects, delivering long-term regional investment and community benefits throughout the projects’ expected 30-year lifespan. Community benefit sharing initiatives have been developed in consultation with local communities and stakeholders, with a focus on First Nations partnerships, environmental restoration and endangered species support, and local sport and tourism infrastructure enhancements.

Additionally, Flow Power is launching bespoke energy retail offers for residents in Naracoorte and Coonawarra, creating a full cycle renewable energy offer, from generation to usage.

Residents in these communities will receive a discount to their base rate and can virtually link their electricity usage to a real project in their own region. This community-based approach helps customers support local renewable investment and makes it easier for businesses and households to benefit from Australia’s renewable transition.

“Adding these new projects to our rapidly growing portfolio in South Australia is an exciting milestone for Flow Power,” said Byron Serjeantson, Flow Power’s Chief Operating Officer.

“We’re proud to continue delivering great renewable energy projects, together with customer solutions that drive the renewable energy transition. Adding to that are some fantastic community benefit initiatives and one of the first projects in the NEM to use Australian-made steel.”

Together, the Monarto, Coonawarra and Naracoorte Energy Projects reflect Flow Power’s long-term commitment to working alongside regional communities to deliver cleaner, more reliable renewable energy, while providing meaningful environmental, social and economic benefits for decades to come.
