2022 summarised: a turbulent year for energy

After a global pandemic and supply chain constraints, energy prices surged following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The immediate impact was on prices for coal, gas and oil. The increased coal and gas prices resulted in elevated energy generator costs and led to two of the most expensive quarters in the National Electricity Market (NEM) being recorded last year.
