Byrne Vineyards

Intelligent irrigation

With Flow Power “we’re communicating with real people. Before we dealt with big business and you never knew anybody’s name,” says the owner, Terry Byrne.
Retail contracts are for nuts.

Byrne Vineyards has wineries in the Riverland and Clare Valley region of South Australia.

They came across Flow Power in 2009 through their interest in almond farms and saw the sense in trialling wholesale power for their vineyards as well.

As the market gets tougher, it pays to be smarter.

Both nuts and grapes are seasonal crops with heavy power use to support irrigation in Summer. The busy period for the vineyards is from December to May with little irrigation in the Winter months.

Spikes in electricity costs in South Australia in recent years led them to look more closely at their use and at alternatives for better buying and self-generation.

With Flow Power “we’re communicating with real people. Before we dealt with big business and you never knew anybody’s name,” says the owner, Terry Byrne.

“They seem very capable. A group of experts who’ve been in the industry a while.”

For us buying wholesale “is just good business,” says the owner, Terry Byrne.
